After braving the F2TF 5K, we realized we run most errands when the boys are asleep. The boys don’t get out much, and we decided we need to change that. (You should have seen them at a restaurant…) In UT we stopped at Target, placed the twins in a double cart, and realized they had only sat in a shopping cart once (Well Cannon had, Cruiz was strapped to my chest in my moby wrap) The twins went nuts, it was like the most exciting thing they had ever done, screaming with delight, leaning over the sides, and pulling things off shelves. Pat was so embarrassed, he kept saying, “We’re that family…” haha
Yes Pat, we’re definitely that family.
We are trying to introduce our boys to life outside our house (and Grandma’s house) so braved a trip to Red Robin.

What have I learned?
- Online shopping is the way to go :)
- More stores need to invest in double carts.
- People love to tell me I have my hands full.
- And I should make Pat go more places with us, the way he reacts is hilarious.
I did that when my girls were small. They were 16 months apart. They were definitely a handful and we chose to run errands while one of us stayed home with them. What would take me 30 minutes to an hour, would take 2-3 with them along. It wasn't worth the stress. :/
ReplyDeleteI only go places that have carts like target. That way my twins and big brother have a place to sit. It makes grocery shopping with all of them possible (Windows and Wal-Mart have the same carts.... in Boise anyway). I wish everyone had those carts. Costco is easy also.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to start taking 3 boys that small out places, especially by,yourself. But, once I did it,I,was,glad. And now it drives me nuts to not get out.
ReplyDeleteI did that when I had my second and they are 3 yrs apart. I would take my son (oldest) and leave baby girl with daddy :) It was much easier. Of course, when he wasn't home I ran my errands and survived but it took a while to get used to 2, let alone 3. We did stuff as a family on Saturday and Sundays. Definitely make Pat go with you more often :)
ReplyDeleteI can relate! I laugh every time someones say "wow you got your hands full!" Especailly love to tell them I have two other kids that are in school ;) Once you get in teh habit of taking the boys out it will get easier and you'll figure out the places that are easiest to take them; some places are more kid/family friendly than others. I have been onltine shopping for years and it really has saved. I love when I have been able to convert other Mom's to take advantage of it!
ReplyDeletePS we went to target a few weeks ago and stuffed all four of our kiddies into the double cart; just because I couldn't believe that there was a store that could accomedate our family. My 7 year old wasn't thrilled but humored us. In Canada; Target is one of the easiest places for us to all shop together!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. All stores need two seats. My twin girls get so excited when they get to sit in a shopping cart. You got your hands full gets very old. Every time I go to Target, I get are they all yours and you have your hands full.

I have 3 under 4 and we go out all the time. (Many times I go by myself because my husband is at work during the day) No fear at all…Target, Costco, Whole Foods and sometimes Walmart…we even go tot the library and park. We make games out of who can behave and be mommy's helper.
ReplyDeleteDo it more! I can't imagine just staying home all the time, we would go crazy!!! (The only thing we don't do is eat out much…waste of money and we like to eat home cooked meals…but we do it on occasion)
I have 5 kids, now between the ages of 8 and 2 1/2. My favorite, friendly, response to "You've got your hands full." Is smiling and saying "Better full than empty." ~hugs~ ~hugs~ ~hugs~ It will get easier the more they are exposed to it. But honestly I don't think I know any moms who don't try to get out to the store without the kiddos because they never fail to make it take longer and more stressful.
