Home Ashley Her Family His Family Ledger Patrick I Voted

I Voted

I grew up in a family who loves politics...well, everyone but me. They all tend to lean to one side very strongly.

Patrick grew up in a family the same way, and they tend to lean to the opposite side just as strongly.

Last elections, Pat and I both knew little about the candidates. I listened to my family and voted, and Pat followed his. Yes, that's right, we voted for different people in 2008. I'm embarrassed to say we both knew very little about either candidate.

Over the past few years, we've listened to my mom's views, and then listened to Patrick's Dad's views, and learned very quickly we needed to decide for ourselves. We've grown up a little over the past 4 years and spent time watching the debates and listening to each candidate speak. I'm proud to say both of us voted this morning...for the same person :)

I'm encouraging you to do the same, if you haven't yet, go and vote! Our country needs a strong leader, a person who can lead our country in the right direction, and create a successful country for not only us, but our children.

Happy Voting.

I don't love politics either but we were more informed this year and are really praying our candidate wins :) Cute pics of you and Ledger!

imagine growing up in THIS situation:

mother's family: grandma - campaign manager for Republican vice presidential candidate at the time. grandpa - dentist to Bob & Elizabeth Dole, their friend as well as Ronald Reagan's. (all well-known Republicans, in case you didn't notice.) lived in Arlington, VA, and frequently had Washington elite over for dinner parties.

father's family: grandma - Kennedy cousin.

which makes me a Kennedy (by blood, different last name as it's through the female line) raised in the house my Republican grandparents hung out with the Doles and the like with.

needless to say, my childhood was very confusing around election time. ;-) if my last name actually was handed down as Kennedy, and people knew i was related to "those" Kennedys, well, my being the proudest Republican around would make for interesting conversation. :-P

    enough said.

You are so wize...no matter what our political views are or which candidate we vote for, we should never, ever give up our right to vote. The pictures are so cute. Glad Ledger is doing better. Have a wonderful November and Thanksgiving. I'm sure you and the rest of us have so very much to be thankful for. I'm thankful that young, amazing women like yourself have inspired me to become a better person and help me remember where all blessings come from.

Hi, we're the Sullengers! Life turned upside down for us in 2010 when we lost our daughter in an accidental drowning. Since then, we've documented our highs (life with all five of our kids) and our lows (struggles with grief) but amongst everthing we've experienced, we know as long as we hold on to one another we can get through anything that comes our way.
