Home Ashley friends His Family Ledger Patrick Summer vacation Detroit

Detroit

If you know Patrick very well, you know he LOVES the Detroit Lion's. He's been their most loyal fan since he was a little boy. When we were first married I asked him why he didn't just pick another team to root for, a team that actually had a chance of winning. It's not like we lived in Detroit or anything... Needles to say, he wasn't too happy with my comment, and to my amazement, his loyalty has paid off. The Lion's are an up and coming team.

I've learned all about Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, and Ndamakong Suh.
And they recently drafted Kellen Moore, Boise State's star QB, Patricks favorite college team.

When Pat's dad and his best friend Robin, invited Pat to Detroit to watch the Lion's and Boise State play all in one weekend, Pat jumped all over the opportunity. Patrick was literally giddy as he packed his Lion's jersey and Boise State shirt to wear to the games.

They left early Thursday morning, and caught their flight out of SLC.
Pat caught up on his favorite team during the flight.

First stop was Ford Field to watch the Lion's play their preseason game against
the Buffalo Bills.

Friday night Boise State played Michigan State.

Pat and Dorsie were surprised to find they had brought the same Boise shirt :)
Robin

And hey, why not hit up a Tiger's baseball game? Ultimate boy's weekend.

Pat brought home Ledger a souvenir, he caught a foul ball.
Along with a little Lion's t shirt.

I was a little disappointed I missed such a momentous trip, I would have loved to see Patrick so excited. But, I was assured I would be invited to the next game... Then he paused and said, "Or maybe Ledger."
 I just laughed.

Thanks Dorsie and Robin for fulfilling one of Patrick's dreams.
He sure did have fun.

I'm from Michigan, but for whatever reason, I'm only a fan of Chicago sports teams. Glad that they were able to catch a Tigers game--even though I'm a Cubs fan, Tigers games are so much fun.

How exciting!! I actually am from Prosser (where Kellen is from) and my brother played high school football with Kellen, and am really good friends with Kellen's wife Julie. It has been so exciting to watch him go through Boise State and now onto Detroit! So glad your hubby got to go do something he loves!

I am a frequent stalker, I mean follower of your blog. I love your posts. You are such a strong example to me. With that being said, I have to say how homesick this post made me. I am from Michigan where my family still is. I now live in St. George, Utah. (I am here by marriage default.) :)
I am a huge fan of all Michigan sports, especially the Lions. My family was at the Michigan State game. The pictures you posted were fun to look at. I have fond memories at all of those sporting venues.

I'm glad your hubby got to fulfill a dream come true. What a fun time they must have had. I like the statemend "Or maybe Ledger!!!" At any rate, I'm sure when Ledger is old enough, there will be more games, more guy fun and lots of memories to be had. It makes me laugh when I see my son try to explain what a first down or a point after means to his cute little wife....Actually, it is quite funny. As for me, my husband, played semi-pro baseball and college-level football so sports were always a big deal in our home.

They were in my neck of the woods then! We live really close to Detroit. We haven't been to a Lions game yet, but we did go to see the Tigers play. Sounds like the ultimate guys weekend!

Hi, we're the Sullengers! Life turned upside down for us in 2010 when we lost our daughter in an accidental drowning. Since then, we've documented our highs (life with all five of our kids) and our lows (struggles with grief) but amongst everthing we've experienced, we know as long as we hold on to one another we can get through anything that comes our way.
