Thankful Thursday: Diapers

sullengers.comWe’ve been extremely grateful for the diapers we were given at the baby shower. With three boys in diapers, we’re changing around 18-20 diapers a day. All I can say is thank goodness for disposable diapers, because adding 20 diapers to my very large pile of laundry every day… let’s just say there wouldn’t be any clean diapers to wear.

This kiddo wanted in on the action, and while I was taking a picture, he climbed up the crib and ripped the crib skirt right off. Good thing he’s cute, because I still haven’t found time to fix it. Smile

Cute picture of Ledger....diapers, wipes, diapers, wipes.....one of those things you try to wish away sometimes but when they are all potty trained, it is like the end of an era....no more babies. So I know you will try to take in every moment whether you are feeding, changing, bathing, rocking, kissing, or loving your babies. And that Ledger, well, he must make life so fun and exciting. Never a dull moment. My son who is 30 has a 3-year old son. I had to laugh when he became a new father....I bought a case of size 1 diapers at Costco. Probably 270 diapers or something like that. He said "Gosh thanks mom...that should last us like about a year or so, right?" Oh my...me and my daughter-in-law laughed so hard and he didn't get it. He actually thought the baby woke up in the morning (after sleeping all night!!)and you put on a new diaper FOR THE DAY. I said, how many times do you think you feed the baby in a day? He said a couple of times. I said, NO, every 3 hours day and NIGHT. Well, he was shocked to say the least. He is an only child and had really never been around little babies. My kids are so silly....they didn't even take pre-natal classes. BUT...they have both turned out to be absolutely the best parents to that little boy. My son took to fathering like a pro. He was the primary care giver for 3 months after his wife went back to work while they were waiting for their day care spot to open up. It just goes to show you what a little practice and patience can do. Your boys are so darling and I'm sure you are still amazed with the little ones. They grow fast don't they. Thanks for giving us a little glimpse into your lives. You are an amazing woman and mother. I know many bloggers don't know you but they feel like they do, me included. I know that is kind of freaky but I know I can speak for most of us in saying we appreciate your honesty and openness about your fears, your heartbreak, your joy, your loves, and it gives others hope that they can get through the tough times and find happiness in moving forward. You faced probably the one most difficult challenge a mother can have and you have done it with grace and beauty rather than bitterness. I think I can attribute some of that to your faith and trust in our Savior. He has a wonderful way of helping us heal from the most devasting of losses. Keep smiling and have a wonderful day, diapers and ALL!!

I'm sure you already know this but if the babies outgrow a size before you have used up unopened packages, you can take them back to a store that carries that same brand and exchange them for a bigger size :-) I did not learn that until I had my second son so I like to share the info when I can :-)

I'm extremely thankful from the time that I had my boys - eight years between - disposable diapers got tabs on them - guess I'm aging myself. With the old ones you used safety pins or your own tape. Glad that you are all doing so well. Becky

Crib skirts are over rated!!! One of the best things my grandmother told me was to keep focused on what will matter in 1, 3 or 5 years from now. Not to get hung up and stressed out about the things that won't really matter even a week from now, let alone a year from now.

Oh the joys of diaper changing! I was in a similar situation as you a few months ago. I had my twins before my son was even 2 and had all 3 in diapers. My son is potty trained now and the girls are a little over 1. I give a huge shout out to any mom who has multiples and washes diapers lol! Also I know you had tons of comments but we have a bumbleride stroller and LOVE IT!! We live in Europe right now wear everything is way smaller then in the US. Our stroller fits threw EVERYTHING. I also love how versatile it is. I use it for jogging, we take it when we go for walks threw the woods, and on the train. It folds up ver nice as well:) THey also have a cool new skateboard like attachment for Ledger to stand on:) Also I always have my Ergo baby carrier on me just in case Noah gets tired of standing or walking so I can strap one of the twins on me and let him sit in the stroller:)

Oh heavens... 20 diapers a day! I am a cloth diapering momma, but if I had 20 a day the disposables would be my best friend.

Hi, we're the Sullengers! Life turned upside down for us in 2010 when we lost our daughter in an accidental drowning. Since then, we've documented our highs (life with all five of our kids) and our lows (struggles with grief) but amongst everthing we've experienced, we know as long as we hold on to one another we can get through anything that comes our way.
