Sledgehammer Turns TWO

On the 14th Ledger turned two. Can you believe we officially have a two year old? Pat and I were absolutely thrilled to be able to celebrate a 2nd Birthday with one of our kids, something we’ve looked forward to for a long time.

2nd Birthday

We went with a Cars theme, Ledger’s all time favorite movie. I had pinned about a million ideas for his party, but about a week before his party I realized with how pregnant I am, I could either stress over everything and literally exhaust myself, or make it extremely simple and enjoy having a two year old. Needless to say I chose the latter, and I’m grateful I did.

2nd Birthday

Once Ledger saw the decorations he continually kept saying, “Zoom,” “Go,” and “Truck!” all night long. He was quite upset when we cut Lightning McQueen (His cake) apart.

Ledger still isn’t too fond of sweets, so I baked some cookies and thought between the two desserts he’d be tempted to try at least one. I was wrong, he didn’t eat anything the whole night. Oh well, the rest of us enjoyed the cake, ice cream, and cookies.

The night before, Pat walked in from work with a battery charged Mater truck and said, “I would have done anything to have this as a kid!” It melted my heart to see Pat so excited. When Pat brought Mater out as the last present Ledger yelled “TRUCK!”

He hasn’t climbed off Mater since.

2nd Birthday2nd BirthdayLedger loves tires/wheels. He goes crazy while walking through parking lots, and tries to touch every car he can. In the video he’s admiring Mater’s tires.

All three sets of grandparents were able to make it, and I was disappointed that Grandma and Grandpa Merritt left without getting a picture with him.

Simple parties are the best! I pinned a million things for my daughters birthday too - we debated between Minnie Mouse and Finding Nemo. We had a very simple Nemo party :-) He's a precious little boy!

Oh my goodness, I just have to comment regarding your little Ledger loving tires and wheels:
When my (now six year old) son was two he was obsessed with tires! I mean OBSESSED! He would pet them on every car he saw, it was all we could do to constantly try and keep his hands clean from that black mess. At fairs his favorite part was the giant tires on the tractors.

I've never heard of anyone else's child having the same facination!

Well from a fellow Idaho Mama who is also due to have a little boy in six weeks- happy birthday to all of your little men! :)

Happy Birthday Ledger! Boys are so much fun!!! Next year make him a meatloaf "cake", you could decorate with whipped potatoes.

Hi, we're the Sullengers! Life turned upside down for us in 2010 when we lost our daughter in an accidental drowning. Since then, we've documented our highs (life with all five of our kids) and our lows (struggles with grief) but amongst everthing we've experienced, we know as long as we hold on to one another we can get through anything that comes our way.
