Christmas

This year was probably my favorite. Pat and I decided to do things a little differently, and instead of rushing to three different houses, we split up our parents on three separate days, which made it much more enjoyable.

We started with Michele and Layne on Sunday after church. We had an awesome big family dinner, opened presents and played games. It was a great night, and sad that I forgot my camera.

Christmas Eve was spent with my family. We opened presents in the afternoon before going over to my Grandma and Grandpa Wightman’s for dinner, white elephant gifts, and caroling. We told the story of Christ’s birth, and sang songs in-between, and Ledger bawled every time we sang… when we finished, he’d sign and say “All done, All done!”  All of my siblings went in and bought my dad a stationary bike stand, he was really surprised!

An hour and a half after we put Ledger down for a nap, I heard a weird scream. I opened his door, and shot out like a slingshot. He climbed out of his crib for the first time. His room was a disaster, just like Preslee did on her very last day with us. And did it again later that night at his Grandpa’s house.

Later Christmas day, we went to Dorsie and Terry’s house. We ate another fabulous dinner and opened presents.  093094 102 104 108 133ed

We hope you all had a Very Merry Christmas. Thank you to all who sent us gifts. What incredible people you are to send complete strangers Christmas ornaments and books. We love you all.

So glad you had a wonderful Christmas and hope the new year is very bright and filled with lots of love and joy. My little grandson, who is also 2 years old, enjoyed his Thomas the train stuff, his two big Caterpillar trucks, and his tent. I really wasn't looking forward to Christmas earlier in December but then...I had to step back to realize how blessed I am and how much the Savior has done for me and my family. Doing that made all the difference. It ended up being my best Christmas in many years. Happy New Year, Ashley, to you and yours!!!

Hi, we're the Sullengers! Life turned upside down for us in 2010 when we lost our daughter in an accidental drowning. Since then, we've documented our highs (life with all five of our kids) and our lows (struggles with grief) but amongst everthing we've experienced, we know as long as we hold on to one another we can get through anything that comes our way.
